My work is figurative and deals with Israeli public space, natural landscapes, urban landscapes and human characters. I paint from direct observation, primary and unmediated experience. I use oil paints, acrylic, gouache, and markers.

I create out of a deep need to bring simplicity, purity, and clarity back into my worldview. Through each piece I want to convey a personal, vivid impression and discover the core of the subject I am focusing on.  I strive to get to the essence of things by means of abstraction with a fresh, direct, and innocent look at the subject.

This desire has roots in my personal history.  I came from a totalitarian country and a traditional family.  I lived in a coercive environment, infected with "doublethink". This is one of the reasons I seek a counterbalance for complicatedness, and create from a place of freedom, connection with myself, and an overall sense of peace.

I choose the subject of each painting according to several criteria. One is continuous research on a certain type of space, and I usually focus on several different spaces at the same time. The other is the influence of an external factor such as the painter, interpersonal communication, or music.  During the painting process, I concentrate on the inner visual experience and the work usually lasts about 4 hours.
